About
I’m Daniel Cross. I work on data infrastructure, mostly around ClickHouse, pipelines, and the systems that keep them running.
I spend a lot of time thinking about why queries are slow, how storage engines actually work, and what breaks when you scale things up. This blog is where I write up what I learn: database internals, distributed systems, infrastructure patterns, and performance work. Most of it comes from reading source code and hitting problems in production.
I tend to go deep on things. I learned most of what I know from docs, source code, and building stuff myself. I studied CS in Madrid and did my thesis on a distributed persistent cache system.
Outside of work I’m into game dev and indie games. Someday I’ll ship something.
